QUITO (AFX) - A McDonalds Corp
restaurant was struck by an explosion in the north end
of Quito, causing material damage but no reported
injuries, police said.
The attack comes as several organizations in Ecuador
are protesting the US-led war on Iraq.
Police said they were investigating the explosion,
which knocked out windows in a shopping centre.
On Monday, unidentified assailants hit the British
consulate in the Ecuadoran port city of Guayaquil, also
causing material damage.
Honorary consul Colin Amstrong said the crime may
have been perpetrated by Iraqis or people opposed to the
UK's participation in the invasion of Iraq.
